The factory des Grès et Poteries de Digoin was at the beginning a hand-crafted and familial business found in 1875, along the central canal in Burgundy. Around 1900, the area of Digoin and Paray-le-Monial, known as the ‘Ceramic Valley’ – was home to about forty factories, each one had specific skills (making roof tiles, bricks, decorative tiles, etc.).

Since 1875, craftspeople from Manufacture de Digoin have been shaping garden potteries made of stoneware. Their ambition is to perpetuate a legendary know-how.

Sleeping beauty for many years, the Manufacture came back to life in 2014, when Corinne Jourdain gathered investors to save the company. Her ambition was to perpetuate a historical expertise and to bring back to former glory those meaningful culinary objects.

The Manufacture de Digoin perpetuates its expertise producing exclusively stoneware pieces to preserve, prepare, cook, stew and contain.

The stoneware clay, which is prepared entirely inside the manufacture’s workshops, is made of natural mineral materials from France (Burgundy, Auvergne, Charente and Île-de-France). Objects come to life in those Burgundian workshops thanks to the expertise of passionate workers. All pieces are shaped and enamelled by hand making them unique.

The potteries are fired in high temperature furnaces (1250°). Consequently, horticulture potteries withstand frost and can easily been left outside all winter long. This type of firing has some other advantages : excellent sealing quality, solidity, inalterability. These qualities are perfect for storing food without odor spreading.

Through this expertise, objects come across the time to become essential utensils giving life to new uses.

The MD Collection 1875 was created to celebrate the 140^th anniversary of the Manufacture de Digoin. This collection translates today’s way of life into traditional cooking utensils, evidence of an age-old expertise.

This collection is structured around useful objects which are delightful to be used every day, to look and to pass on. The collection offers cooking utensils which represent a simple, curious and sophisticated art of living.

Salt pot, Vinegar pot, Paris Terrine, Terrine with lip, Breton Bowl… The philosophy of the Manufacture is a culinary journey to a simple, healthy and natural cuisine. The creations are born from a constant renewal, just led by instinct and pleasure.
