the story of a rebirth

It all began in 1875 in the heart of Burgundy, very close to Paray le Monial.

Initially a small family business, the Digoin "Grès et Poteries" factory produced everyday objects for the garden and home. From 1900 onwards, it became a local flagship of this booming industrial area, renamed the "ceramics valley".

It then became part of this network of factories specializing in the use of clay, which was abundant in the region.

During this golden age, more than 600 people worked in our factory.

In the 1950s-70s, the company went through a difficult period with the mass arrival of plastic. In a state of semi-dormancy, the
Despite everything, know-how is passed on and Digoin resists.

In 2014, the factory was revived with the arrival of passionate investors who wanted to save and bring back to life this testament to the heritage of French tableware.

In 2024, a new team will take over to continue to deploy the spirit and exceptional know-how of Digoin.

This work is reflected in particular by the re-edition of old molds and the collaboration with contemporary artists to create a link between a solid tradition, the practices of our time and the dreams of tomorrow.

Of earth, fire, and men

It all begins with the Burgundy stoneware paste made in our workshops from minerals. Entirely handmade, each piece is first shaped, then left to dry before being glazed and marked with the Manufacture's seal.

Finally, all the pieces are fired at a high temperature (1250°C) which will
allowing Digoin ceramics to express all their qualities with waterproofing, strength and frost resistance.

The deeply manual expertise that guides each stage of production makes every object from the Digoin Manufacture unique, reflecting the love of the craft and the pride our ceramists take in their work. Some of our artisans have inherited their skills, passed down through generations.

Preparing, shaping, drying, deburring, enameling, firing and sorting, each step testifies to the patience of the gesture and the precision of the craftsman, a succession of movements that perpetuate a living know-how.

Objects of today and tomorrow

We create iconic products that are a pleasure to use every day, a pleasure to pass on and to look at. Culinary objects that symbolize a simple, curious, elegant and eclectic art of living. A culinary journey towards simple, raw, healthy and natural cuisine, born from constant renewal, simply by instinct and pleasure.

The beauty of everyday life, created to last

Like a guardian of know-how, the Manufacture works for the sustainability of its objects: preserving, enhancing and creating, in order to pass on to future generations durable and meaningful pieces.

In the kitchen as in the garden, our collections are designed to complement everyday uses. They are distinguished by simple, timeless and elegant shapes, crafted to last.

For the home, the Manufacture develops a range of iconic objects: plates, salad bowls, pitchers, terrine molds, vinegar cruets… All pieces designed to preserve, cook or contain, while illustrating the functional and aesthetic requirement that guides us.

For outdoor use, our horticultural jars and pots enhance plants and withstand the seasons. Made of stoneware and fired at high temperatures, they can remain outdoors year-round and blend naturally into both mineral and plant-based landscapes.

The Digoin factory is committed to promoting the French art of living, based on tradition, quality, and authenticity. Our creations are part of a continuum: that of a heritage reinterpreted to meet the needs of today and tomorrow.

Thanks to this expertise, objects transcend time to become indispensable utensils that give new life to new uses.
