the story of a rebirth
It all began in 1875 in the heart of Burgundy, near Paray-le-Monial.
Starting as a small family business, the Manufacture de Digoin "Grès et Poteries" produced everyday objects for the garden and home. From 1900, it became a local flagship of this booming industrial basin, renamed the "ceramics valley".
It was part of a network of manufacturers specializing in the use of clay, which was abundant in the region.
During this golden age, more than 600 people worked in our factory.
In the 1950s-70s, the company went through a difficult period with the mass arrival of plastic. In a semi-slumber, the
know-how was nonetheless passed on and Digoin resisted.
In 2014, the factory awoke with the arrival of passionate investors who wanted to save and revive this testament to French tableware heritage.
In 2024, a new team took over to continue deploying Digoin's spirit and exceptional know-how.
This work includes reissuing old molds and collaborating with contemporary artists to create a link between solid tradition, current practices, and the dreams of tomorrow.
Of Earth, Fire, and Men
It all begins with the Grès de Bourgogne clay paste made in our workshops from minerals. Entirely handcrafted, each piece is first shaped, then left to dry before being glazed and marked with the Manufacture's seal.
Finally, all pieces are fired at high temperature (1250°C), which allows the Digoin ceramic to express all its qualities: waterproofness, solidity, and frost resistance.
The profoundly manual expertise that governs each stage of manufacturing makes every object from the Manufacture de Digoin unique, reflecting the love of the craft and the pride of our ceramists in their work. Some of our artisans have inherited their know-how, passed down through several generations.
Preparing, shaping, drying, deburring, glazing, firing, and sorting—each step demonstrates the patience of the gesture and the precision of the artisan, a succession of movements that perpetuate a living savoir-faire.

In the kitchen as in the garden, our collections are designed to accompany daily use. They are distinguished by simple, timeless, and elegant forms, crafted to last.
For the home, the Manufacture develops a range of emblematic objects: plates, salad bowls, pitchers, terrine molds, vinegar jars… All pieces designed to store, cook, or contain, while illustrating the functional and aesthetic demands that guide us.
For the outdoors, our jars and horticultural pots enhance plants and withstand the seasons. Modeled in stoneware and fired at high temperatures, they can remain outdoors all year round and naturally integrate into both mineral and plant landscapes.
La Manufacture de Digoin thus strives to promote a French art of living, based on transmission, quality, and authenticity. Our creations are part of a continuum: that of heritage reinterpreted to meet the needs of today and tomorrow.
Thanks to this know-how, objects stand the test of time to become indispensable utensils that breathe new life into new uses.
