Cylindrical Box
The cylindrical jar originates in Burgundian kitchens, where it was once used to store condiments and homemade preparations. Re-editions of utilitarian models preserved in the Manufacture's archives, these jars perpetuate a regional tradition: to preserve, to macerate, to protect. They were already part of daily life in rural pantries, where stoneware was valued for its robustness and natural impermeability.
Molded from stoneware and fired at very high temperatures, they become completely vitrified: the material absorbs neither odor, nor flavor, nor moisture. Their opacity protects food from light, ensuring healthy and long-lasting preservation. These are reliable, hygienic containers made to last.
Multiple uses, from the pantry to the contemporary kitchen
Today, their simple, straight and stable shape, as well as their versatile capacities, allow them to meet a wide variety of uses.
Maceration in oil or vinegar (fruits, vegetables, herbs, zests), preparation of homemade condiments, storage of spices, dried fruits, cereals or sugar, container for ice cubes, fresh herbs or zests.
Non-porous stoneware ensures perfect neutrality, no transfer of taste or odor, even during long macerations.
Also a decorative object in the kitchen, as in all other rooms of the house.
Each cylindrical jar is shaped, enameled and finished by hand in the Manufacture's workshops.
This meticulous work, passed down from generation to generation, gives each piece its unique character while respecting the heritage forms from which they originate.
A utilitarian object that has become a durable and decorative piece, the cylindrical jar embodies the meeting of tradition and use. It fits equally well in a traditional or contemporary kitchen.
